The Person Centered Approach
As a person-centered therapist, I believe in the inherent capacity for personal growth within each individual. I approach counselling with a deep respect for your unique experiences and inner wisdom.
My role is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I strive to offer unconditional positive regard, which means I accept you without judgment and offer genuine warmth and empathy. I also strive for congruence, meaning I am authentic and genuine in my interactions with you, building a genuine connection.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and I will work collaboratively with you to understand your needs and goals. I will actively listen and strive to understand your perspective from your frame of reference, conveying a deep understanding of your inner world.
My aim is to empower you to develop self-awareness, build self-esteem, and navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience. I believe that by fostering a supportive and trusting environment, you will be able to access your inner resources and make positive changes in your life.”
This first-person perspective allows the counsellor to connect more directly with potential clients, highlighting their commitment to a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
