On a personal level, I bring lived experience of Autism and ADHD, which helps me deeply understand neurodiversity. I also have firsthand experience with women’s health conditions such as Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and Menopause, which allows me to connect empathetically with others facing similar journeys. All of this comes together to create a warm, understanding, and supportive approach to working with you.

Therapy in the heart of Hull

How does counselling work?
I practice from a quiet, dedicated room in Hull designed to feel neutral and calm. It is a private space where you can speak openly without interruption.
Counselling is a straightforward, collaborative process. We sit together to look at what is happening in your life, identifying the patterns or events that are causing you distress. Rather than telling you what to do, I provide the professional framework and clinical expertise to help you make sense of your own experiences.
It is a focused time for us to work through difficult thoughts and develop practical ways for you to manage them. While taking the first step and booking a session can feel significant, it is the most effective way to start making a tangible change.

Testimonials
“Jo was phenominal at supporting me in a difficult time and always had belief in me. My life has changed for the better and I have learnt so much!”
“Counseling is a field where practitioners can find it difficult to
balance between humanity and professionalism. Jo by contrast stands firmly rooted in both, and brings immense experience, insight, and empathy to the task of guiding clients to focus on the real nature of their issues, and from there, the best path ahead. I cannot recommend her highly enough, and would not hesitate to engage with her again.”
“Jo was honestly the best first counsellor I had, for 7+ years I wanted therapy and was too anxious to do it and even 6 weeks I was luck enough to have Jo, I can’t put thank you in to words of how much she’s helped me and just made me open my eyes more, such a caring person and amazing listener! HIGHLY recommend even if your anxious, couldn’t be more thankful, so again much love and will always remember you!”
